Kestrel Notes

Kestrel Notes is an invented placeholder project — no real repository, release, or user base sits behind it. It stands in for a small, long-maintained open-source tool: a single-binary CLI, a local database file instead of a server, and a changelog longer than the codebase it describes.

dates.end is intentionally omitted here (unlike Driftlight and Signal Thread) — dates.end? is optional in the frontmatter schema (lib/content/schema.ts), and an actively-maintained open-source project is exactly the case a real entry would leave open, rendering as "— present" on the entry header.

An entry like this usually earns its length from the boring parts: a migration path between two incompatible file formats, a deliberate refusal to add a plugin system, and the reasoning behind cutting a feature that would have doubled the surface area for one edge case.
